Reflection

Creative Critical Reflection   1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?   Our product uses conventions as we play into some common tropes throughout the music video. The establishing shot has snow that has been edi ted in to fit the “conventional” Christmas music video that one would see be made in western media. I also use the same color scheme that most Christmas music videos contain as I am trying to fit a theme with the music video. I also made sure to portray our main actor as very playful and almost childlike through uses of angles and actions he uses In the music video. Our music video challenges conventions as the video does not have - for example- background characters in the music video singing and dancing as high level high budget Christmas music video would have. We Also portray a man as the main act or which also is no t common in a Christmas music video as it challenges gender roles that come wi

Editing done

I finally finished the editing for the music video. It took in total 2 and a half hours of head down work. But I'm very happy to get it finished. It was pretty long and grueling. But the creative fireworks in my head were popping off as i was editing the music video. The process of the editing was mainly cutting up the pieces of fim and matching up where they fit in its appropriate place in the song. It was hard to get a Clip of Brayden and the giant glowed up reindeer in the video as it became apparent that the lighting was not good enough to use in the video often. The most useful clip we got of Brayden was him singing the song underneath the giant Christmas tree in the middle of the mall. Although the process was not preferable. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The most useful editing too i used was the split tool that automatically split the clips and made the editing process a lot easier. Getting the sound in the music video required me downloading the mp

Editing update

The most important part of the project has come. The editing portion. Now I feel like I’m more prepared than now with the music video than I was for the commercial in terms of editing. When I was challenged with the task of editing the commercial, I had no clue what I was doing. I didn’t even know what software to use. So actually knowing how I’m going to do the editing and what software I am going to use, this process is going to be smoother than last time. At least what I think. For this music video, I will first decide which clips should go where in the video to make it flow the best. I will run my decisions for the placement of footage with my group members. I will more than likely get more advice from luke than Brayden. I Don't have any money to buy premium video editing software. But I indented on using the free one anyways. I talked to luke at school today, and he said he would help me with some editing is needed. But I take his word with a grain of salt because he doesn

Post filmling

After we got done filming, My group members and I explored the mall. After our filming experience we got food and reflected on our shots. We talked about our favorite shot. We discussed which part of the video we would only include a little of. And we also talked about what we would include more of. I feel like I'm carrying the most burden As I Have to edit the Music video. Editing will be the most labor-filled part of this entire process. I have to add effects and filters. I did most of the production and camera work in this film. And I Am doing all the editing. So I'm happy to be a main contributor to the music video in terms of production. But it doesn't neglect the fact that it is a lot of work to do. Especially for one person. But I will get it done. I told my group members I am going to make it look as good as I possibly can. I thanked them for giving me their trust in this project by giving me the keys to be the creative director. They thanked me for taking the burd

FIlming of video

The first filming location we had in our storyboard was set to take place on las Olas beach. That, however, was not in the cards for the day of filming as we had no ride to las Olas beach. So we had to make do with what we had. Thankfully Galeria mall offers cool displays. Meaning lots of places to improvise and make cool shots with. We started our first shot outside. Galeria mall has a display of 2 giant and brightly illuminated rain deers that really stick out for our shots. We filmed by having Brayden do the entire songs at our different locations so we could get any shot for any part of the song. This was done so that I could do most of the work for the editing. We filmed the next shot at the big tree in the middle of the mall. The shot was a medium-long shot showing all of Brayden in the frame as he dances while sitting under a Big Christmas tree. We then shot a shot where its a close-up of Brayden's face and the camera pans out to reveal the tree in the back. In our next shoo

Pre filming

Before I started filming with my group. My group members and I all first had to find a place to meet. My friends and I met at a local bowling alley. We chose the bowling alley because it was closest to everyone while being near the mall.My group-mates and I were at the bowling alley for around 2 hours playing games and just having a overall bonding moment as a group. It served its purpose to put us in the right setting to work with each other. I brought my phone to record, and Luke was in charge of the props I told him to get. After the bowling alley we went to the mall to start filming. That’s when we realized we were Ill prepared as Brayden was not dressed right for the music video. I was pretty upset with this as everyone else was completely ready to film. But being to far In the process, getting upset helps no one. So we had to think of our next step moving forward. Thinking quickly, we decided our best bet would be buying an outfit for brayden at the mall. At first we just wanted

Production update

As I write this, it is currently December 4th. My group members and I planned on filming today or yesterday, but we fell victim to our jam-packed winter schedule. I had a wrestling meet yesterday in which I won all my matches for my school via pin in the first minute. But I had absolutely no time to film and had to be out for the video shoot. Brayden had work respectively as well and could not film either. This leads luke by himself and he isn't planning on doing a one man video shoot anytime soon. To say we are behind schedule would be appropriate to describe our current position. The props we bought have not come yet, and we are working on getting a tripod for better camerawork quality and stability. Now we aren't freaking out about this. Instead, we simply rescheduled our filming for this weekend as we are all free. I have no wrestling meet. This means I have absolutely 0 excuses not to be able to film. Brayden on the other hand, has work until 5. So we will have to film la
